California State Parks has distributed the California State Library Parks Pass to public libraries across the state for checkout by library patrons. This pass will allow free vehicle day use entry at more than 200 participating state park units.
California State Library Parks Pass – What it Is
In partnership with the First Partner’s Office and the California State Library, State Parks is providing FREE vehicle day-use entry to over 200 participating state parks (view a map with California’s public libraries and nearby participating state parks here) to library-card holders. The California State Library Parks Pass is valid for entry of one passenger vehicle with capacity of nine people or less or one highway licensed motorcycle.
Who Can Check It Out
We have a limited number of these passes available to Altadena Library members beginning April 15. Eligible card holders (Good Neighbor, Community Card, Curiosity Card, Teacher, Youth Cards) can borrow one (1) pass per FAMILY at a time for three weeks (with no renewal). Eligible borrowers may also place a hold on a Parks Pass.
Parks Pass Duty of Care/Lending Agreement
- This California State Library Parks Pass maybe checked out for a total of 3 weeks, and it is not eligible for renewal.
- Please return the pass to a staff member at the Information Desk.
- Please recreate responsibly, and read and follow the Pass Terms and Conditions.
- In order to encourage park access equity, please return the Parks Pass by the due date. After one week of pass being overdue, we will de-activate and replace the pass.
- If you lose the Parks Pass, please notify the Altadena Library at (626) 798-0833. No lost/damage fee will be charged.
Limitations on Parks Pass
The pass will not be honored at state park units operated by federal or local government and private agencies or concessionaires. Also, the pass is not valid for per-person entry or tour fees (such as museums), boat use, camping, group use or sites, special events, additional/extra vehicle fees, sanitation disposal use or for supplemental fees.
