#LibraryCardSignUp

September marks the annual national celebration of Library Card Sign-Up Month! Libraries have come a long way from just being palaces of books. As the structure of communities and methods of accessing information have changed over the past century, so has the role of the library. While still offering access to information through traditional means, innovation thrives in library settings as libraries strive to meet the unique learning needs of everyone in the community. No longer held back by physical walls, libraries are meeting their patrons out in their communities, bringing with them a plethora of different ways to learn and engage with new ideas. As communities seek ways to connect and strengthen civic engagement, libraries have become beacons of community building and empowerment.

Being an Altadena Library cardholder means more than just having access to thousands of books, movies, magazines, and games in our collection, as well as digital resources like e-books and research databases. It means you are part of a powerful movement focused on making a meaningful impact in our community! Signing up for a card takes just a few minutes, and it sends a compelling message of support. Ready to join this month’s celebration? Here’s how:

  • Visit the Main Library or Bob Lucas Branch. Staff at both of our libraries would be thrilled to show you around and get you started on your library journey.
  • Sign up for a library card! With digital registration now available, signing up for a card has never been easier!
  • Refer a friend. Share the library love with friends and neighbors! There is something for everyone at the Altadena Libraries!
  • Help spread the word! Follow the Altadena Libraries on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter @AltadenaLibrary and share a post about why you support your local libraries! Be sure to use #LibraryCardSignUp and tag us in your post!
