Community Room Rental

The Altadena Library District has meeting room accommodations for community groups and organizations. The Barbara J. Pearson Community Room (called the Community Room for short) at the Main Library is available for rental.

The Community Room is available to rent after the needs of the Library have been met. Limited use for individual or commercial purposes is permitted if such use does not interfere with Library operations.

How to Request use of Altadena Library Community Room

Please fill out the request form below and select “Facility Use Request” for the request type.

Requests for the Community Room are accepted up to 60 days in advance. Due to the volume of requests, we will need up to seven (7) business days to review your submission. We will be in touch with the status of your request once all of the appropriate staff members have reviewed. Thank you for your interest in the Altadena Library.

Important things to know about renting the Community Room:

  • Fees:
    • $50 for non-profits per hour, $100 for all others per hour
  • Private parties are not permitted
    • All events must be open to the public
  • Food is permitted, alcoholic beverages are not
  • Room capacities are strict and not negotiable
  • Library staff do not provide technical assistance
    • You can request a staff member overview our available technology before your event date, and staff may be able to assist with basic technical difficulties with our projector, sound system, or podium.
    • If you wish to bring your own equipment, you must notify staff what this equipment is before your rental request is approved
      • Depending on the equipment, proof of insurance will be required.

Classroom* setting: 45 Persons
Conference** setting: 60 Persons
Maximum Occupancy: 96 Persons

Square Footage: 1,000 ft

*Classroom:  includes tables and chairs. A typical configuration would be 8, 6-foot tables with 45 chairs.

**Conference: includes only chairs, no tables.

The Barbara J. Pearson Community Room features ample floor space, a stage with curtain, projector and screen, and piano. The walls are often adorned with the art of local artists. The Library can provide folding chairs and 6-foot, rectangular tables. Follow the directions on this webpage on requesting use of the Community Room.

Rental Hours of Operation

All events should be scheduled to end 30 minutes prior to closing to allow for breakdown and cleanup.

Monday & Tuesday: 10:00am – 7:30pm
Wednesday – Friday: 10:00am – 5:30pm
Saturday: 10:00am – 3:30pm
Closed Sunday
