Strategic Planning Updates!

Strategic Planning

A Roadmap for Our District’s Future

2019 marks the end of the Altadena Library District’s current Strategic Plan. Just as our libraries have grown and changed over the past five years, so has our community. It is time to update our Strategic Plan to be reflective of the current needs and interests of the community we serve.

THE PLANNING PROCESS

To guide the strategic planning process, the Altadena Library District has hired the New York firm Margaret Sullivan Studio. Margaret Sullivan and her team will guide library staff, the Board of Trustees, and the volunteer Strategic Planning Committee through the development of a plan that will set our libraries on a clear path to address the needs of our unique community.

The phases of the strategic planning process will span from August 2019 through November 2019 and include:

  • Phase I: Information Gathering, Analysis & Context Setting (August 2019)
    • One-on-one meetings between consultants and Board of Trustees
    • General staff and staff Leadership Team workshops
    • Town Hall Meeting with members of the public on Thursday, August 15
  • Phase II: Develop Emerging Strategic Themes (September 2019)
    • Distribution of a community-wide survey about the Altadena Libraries
    • Ongoing Directed Storytelling sessions between library staff and members of the community*
  • Phase III: Creating the Strategic Plan (November 2019)
    • Follow-up Town Hall Meeting on Monday, November 4, from 6:30 – 8:30pm for community input on identified priorities for new Strategic Plan
