Here are some of the ways you can join us in celebrating this Women’s History Month:

  • Join the Altadena Libraries and Altadena Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, March 13 at 11:00am for a virtual mixer honoring the female business owners in our community, themed “Women Making a Difference” and featuring keynote speaker Ruth Hopkins of The Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley Journal and guest speaker Meredith Miller of Webster’s Community Pharmacy.
  • Teens are invited to learn about another Strange Avenue, or unexpected career path, at a live, virtual interview with astrologer Jessica Lanyadoo on Friday, March 19, at 4:00pm.
  • Sign up for a virtual interview on Thursday, March 25 at 6:00pm with local artist, fine press printer, and educator Jocelyn Pedersen as she speaks about the history of women in the book arts in Southern California and her experience as one of them. Jocelyn, who teaches Typography/Letterpress Printing and Hand Printed Book Production at Occidental College will also be in conversation with her colleague Jean Gillingwators, a former educator, fellow local letterpress printer and proprietor of Black Bird Press.

This Women’s History Month, we shine a spotlight on women artists, present and past, that made history and continue to shape the world with their bold choices and resilience in the arts.
