Meet Rachel Curry, Fab Lab Artist in Residence

Rachel Curry

Meet our inaugural Fab Lab Artist in Residence! Rachel Curry is a teaching artist, letterpress printer, bookbinder, zinester, and fiber artist from Los Angeles. As a queer feminist punk, Rachel’s practice as an artist and an educator is rooted in the belief that art is for everyone, that it is possible to build a better world through creative expression.

Starting Sept. 15, visit Rachel on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Fab Lab at the Main Library! You can catch her working on an embroidered community poem in September and October. In November, pop in to learn how she makes patchwork sewing circles.

She will also be holding hands-on workshops for anyone 13 years or older, no creative experience required. Space is limited, so you’ll need to register. Workshop registration opens up 2 weeks prior to each session, and you can find all of our upcoming events in our online calendar.

Fab Lab members can also drop by the Fab Lab during open hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday or 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

To become a Fab Lab Member, your will need to go through an orientation session during open hours to learn about the equipment and go over safety concerns.
