Author Events
Author Events at Altadena Library District!
The Altadena Library District seeks to provide access to educational, informational and cultural resources to the community. As part of that belief, the library encourages artistic and cultural interests of the community by providing a space for authors to present their work.
The Altadena Library District allows authors to work with a Library Representative to present events where their work may be shared with the public. The Library Representative will work with the authors to arrange the event date, time, location, and program structure. The Library Representative will submit events, as agreed upon with the authors, into the library’s schedule of programs.
Authors interested in participating in literary events can click here to submit an Author Event Interest Form to the Altadena Library District.
The Altadena Library District does not charge fees for author events held in partnership between Altadena Library staff and authors.
The Altadena Library District reserves the right to decide what is appropriate for public programming and display. The Library reserves the right to decline partnerships with authors whose work does not align with the mission of the Library. The presentation of any literary work does not imply an endorsement of the work by the Altadena Library District, its Trustees, or its staff.
Sale of books is solely between the author and the buyer. The Library District is not liable for such transactions.
Our Indie Author events occur several times a year, and we are now taking applications for future events. Please fill out the interest form on this page to be considered for a future event. If you have already submitted an application, you are still in our queue and don’t need to reapply. If you have any questions, click here to email us.

An author event is a free, public event where authors can share their published works with the Altadena community through readings, presentations, and signings.

Author Event Interest Forms are submitted to Library Representatives to be reviewed for future library programs. Once Interest Forms are reviewed, a Library Representative will contact you with the status of your application. Library Representatives may begin the process of working with authors on dates and program formats, inquire about availability for a later programming period, or decline to enter into a partnership.

Submission of Author Event Interest Form with all fields filled out completely according to instructions are all that is needed. Preference is given to authors celebrating a publication, but all applicants are considered.
